In Case you Wondered
You probably already know Ralph Wenz Field Airport is located in Pinedale, Wyoming, and if you don’t then you’re most likely lost. So here is a little knowledge to wrap around your headbone about the history of our fine airport.
Similar to other airports around the country named after notable aviators, this airport is no different. Our local airport’s name is rooted in the story about a B-24 Liberator that crashed in the Alaska Wilderness, now known as Yukon-Charlie Rivers National Preserve. Four American heroes lost their lives in the crash on December 23, 1943, including the airport’s namesake S. Sgt. Ralph S. Wenz. Feel free to take a look at an article that summarizes their journey.
